Embark Studios has deployed Patch 1.4.0 for Arc Raiders, a minor yet crucial update aimed almost entirely at resolving various in-game exploits. Notably absent are the balance tweaks that dominated the previous patch; instead, the focus is on maintaining fair play and map integrity.
The core purpose of Patch 1.4.0 is to counteract player methods used to bypass mechanics and access restricted areas, which often house high-tier, rare loot.
The developer introduced "exploit mitigation mechanisms" across all maps to address the most severe issues:
Locked Room Clipping: The biggest fix is aimed at stopping players from glitching through locked doors to access valuable areas without the required keys. This affects all maps where locked rooms are present.
Out-of-Bounds Areas: Similar exploits, which allowed players to clip through walls and reach areas outside the intended playspace, have also been patched. These exploits were often used to set up undetectable ambushes and traps against enemy players.
Spaceport Specific Fix: Exterior access to the locked room inside the Spaceport Control Tower has been specifically blocked, ensuring it is only accessible from within the tower.
Beyond map exploits, the update addresses a critical gameplay issue:
Weapon Exploit Fixed: The patch corrects a "nasty exploit" that allowed players to bring up their weapons significantly faster than intended by quickly swapping to and from the quick use menu.
Minor Fixes: Other quality-of-life adjustments include fixing issues that allowed players to push each other by jumping on their backs, resolving low-resolution textures in the Main Menu, fixing lighting artifacts upon entering maps, and ensuring Raider Voice selections are correctly saved after restarting the game.
This patch reinforces the developer's commitment to fixing loopholes, following the previous update (1.3.0, released one week prior) which mainly focused on weapon and economy balance.
